READY TO LIST
Thinking of selling your home? Why wait? But before you start searching for your next dream home, you’ll need to figure out when you’re going to sell your existing home. While there’s no magic formula for determining the best time to sell a home, there are several factors you should consider.
Selling in the Winter: You may think people are less likely to see your home in the midst of their hectic holiday schedules. This can be true for some but keep in mind most people have more time off around the holidays. That means more time for browsing their favorite home apps, dreaming about their future decor, and even scheduling home showings. If a buyer is trudging around in the freezing weather to look at your home, they must be serious. That's because many winter buyers are working against a deadline, whether it's an expiring lease, relocation, or a contract on their current home. Inventory is low in the Winter and can be another advantage to selling.
Best season for selling: Conventional wisdom dictates that spring is the best time to sell a home. In spring, the holidays have past, the new school year is still a while away, and gardens and other outdoor spaces tend to look their best. And while spring is the season that sees the largest amount of buyers, it’s also the season when inventories are highest. This means lots of competition, so if you’re going to sell in spring, you really need to get your property to stand out with effective marketing and staging.
